Krishna was born in the month of Bhadrapada at 12 o'clock at night on the Ashtami Tithi, Rohini Nakshatra, in the Krishna Paksha. Krishna's birthday is celebrated all over the world including in India, Nepal, and America in the name of Janmashtami. Krishna was born in the jail of Mathura. He was the 8th child of mother Devaki and father Vasudeva.

When Kansa came to know about Krishna's birth, he sent a demon named Putana to kill Krishna. Putna stole Krishna and began to feed him milk by applying poison on her chest. Shri Krishna took away his life from the chest of Putna and the giant monstrous himself died. Those who saw this Leela of Shri Krishna were surprised because Putna had killed all the newborn children of Nandgaon, but little Krishna took Putna to Yampuri. From that time people started saying that Krishna is not a normal human being but a great human being.

Kaliya Nag and Lord Krishna 

Kansa sent Kaliya Nag to the Yamuna. Due to its poison, the water of Yamuna turned black. Animals, birds, and people started dying from drinking this water. The people of Nandgaon started thinking that now they will have to leave the village and settle somewhere else, but Shri Krishna did not accept this to happen. One day, in a sports game, Shri Krishna jumped into the river Yamuna and reached in front of Kaliya Nag. Krishna was about to kill Kaliya when the serpent girls started praying for the protection of life. Shri Krishna forgave Kaliya by asking him to go away from Nand village. Kaliya bowed his head in front of Shri Krishna and Shri Krishna stood on Kaliya's hood and started dancing in the form of Nataraja. When the people of Nand village saw this scene, they were surprised and started believing that Shri Krishna is a great human.

In order to protect the animals and people of Nandgaon, when Indra made torrential rain, Shri Krishna lifted the Govardhan Mountain on his little finger and for several days, something normal continued, then Indra had to come in front of Shri Krishna to apologize. . When people saw this Leela of Shri Krishna, they were convinced that Shri Krishna is God in human form. And started worshiping Govardhan Parvat at the behest of Shri Krishna and since then the tradition of worshiping Govardhan Parvat is going on every year.
